Klebsiella pneumoniae là một loài vi khuẩn Gram âm thuộc họ Enterobacteriaceae, cùng họ với một số mầm bệnh phổ biến khác như Escherichia coli, Salmonella, và Shigella.[1] Vi khuẩn này được thấy ngoài môi trường, trong đất, nước bề mặt và trên các thiết bị y tế.[2]
